Questions, answered.

Lab vs Tracker, every GLP-1 brand we support, half-life accuracy, the weekly budget logic, AI capabilities, privacy, pricing. Bring more if you have them — we expand this list as questions come in.

What's the difference between Protokol Lab and Protokol Tracker?

Two products under one brand. Protokol Lab is a simulation engine for self-experimenters — model how peptides, supplements, light, exercise, and meds shift 62 biological signals before changing anything in your real routine. Protokol Tracker is the free GLP-1 logger that handles the day-to-day: doses, macros, weight, symptoms, photos, with half-life curves and a rolling 7-day budget.

Do I need to use both?

No. Tracker stands alone — most users run it on its own forever. Lab is for people who want to test changes before they live them. Use both if you're stacking peptides or running an unusual protocol.

Is Protokol a medical device?

No. Protokol is an organizational and mathematical modeling tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. It is not a covered entity under HIPAA. Consult a licensed medical professional before making any decisions about your medication or health.

Does Tracker work with Mounjaro and Zepbound?

Yes. Mounjaro and Zepbound are both tirzepatide. Pick Tirzepatide from the built-in compound library and Tracker handles the half-life modeling automatically. Same dose, schedule, and active blood level tracking whether you're on Mounjaro (FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes) or Zepbound (FDA-approved for obesity).

Does Tracker work with Ozempic and Wegovy?

Yes. Ozempic and Wegovy are both semaglutide. Pick Semaglutide from the built-in compound library. The half-life (~7 days) and subcutaneous kinetics are the same across both brands. If you use oral semaglutide (Rybelsus), switch to the Rybelsus preset for its daily dose pattern.

Can I track compounded tirzepatide or compounded semaglutide?

Yes. Compounded GLP-1s contain the same peptide as the brand-name versions — same molecule, same pharmacokinetics. Use the built-in Tirzepatide or Semaglutide preset. For any non-standard formulation, add a custom compound with your own name and half-life.

Can I track BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, or other peptides?

Yes, via custom compounds. Enter a name, half-life (in days), interval, and kinetics shape (bolus / sub-Q / depot). The dashboard plots the active-amount curve. Protokol does not publish PK defaults for non-FDA-approved compounds; users supply their own values.

Can I track multiple compounds at once (stacks)?

Yes. Each compound has its own active-amount curve, plotted independently. The simulation models combined receptor occupancy where compounds share targets.

How accurate is the half-life curve?

Protokol uses the Bateman equation — the standard two-compartment pharmacokinetic model for extravascular absorption. Defaults are based on published PK: tirzepatide ~5 days (Urva et al., 2021), semaglutide ~7 days (Lau et al., 2015), dulaglutide ~5 days (Barrington et al., 2011), liraglutide ~13 hours (Agersø et al., 2002). You can override half-life per compound.

Why does my Tirzepatide curve drop slowly between weekly doses?

That's the long half-life (~5 days). With a 5-day half-life and a 7-day interval, the trough of one dose is still ~50% of the peak when the next dose lands. You accumulate to a steady state over 4–6 weeks — both peak and trough rise until they level off.

When does Tirzepatide reach steady state?

With a half-life of ~5 days dosed weekly, steady state is reached after roughly 4–6 weeks. After steady state, peak ≈ 2× single-dose peak, trough ≈ single-dose peak.

Why does Tracker use a weekly calorie budget instead of a daily one?

GLP-1s don't produce uniform hunger. Appetite drops hard for 2–3 days after each injection, then returns. A 24-hour daily target treats a low-appetite day as a win and a normal-appetite day as failure — even when the weekly total is on track. Tracker rolls unused calories forward, so your weekly target is what you actually hit.

Can the AI actually log food for me, or is it just chat?

It logs for you. Describe what you ate in plain English — the AI checks your food library, runs a web search if the item isn't there, creates a custom food entry with the right macros, and writes it into today's log. You watch the tool trail as it works.

Can I log food from a photo?

Yes. Snap a photo of your plate from the chat drawer; the AI identifies items, looks them up in USDA + Open Food Facts, picks plausible portions, and logs each food separately.

What does the AI know about me?

Profile (sex, age, height, weight, targets, time zone, units), enabled conditions, recent pattern insights, conversation history, and whatever your message and tool calls retrieve. It does not see other users' data — tool calls are scoped to your account at the database query level.

Is my health data private?

Yes. Protokol does not sell, share, or monetize user health data. Cloud sync is opt-in. Full JSON or CSV export is always free and unlimited. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest.

Do you sell GLP-1 medications or connect me to a pharmacy?

No. Protokol is a tracker only. We do not sell, distribute, or refer users to any pharmacy, telehealth provider, or compounding facility. Obtain medications through a licensed prescriber.

Can I export all my data?

Yes. Full history export as JSON or CSV, anytime, no paywall, no support ticket. Includes food log, dose log, weight, body measurements, symptoms, photos, exercise, fasting, water, cycle, bloodwork, genetics, conditions, day notes, and AI chat history.

Is my data used for AI training?

No. Per Google's Gemini API terms, API usage doesn't feed model training. We don't share user data with any other model provider, marketer, researcher, or insurer.

What's free vs paid on Tracker?

Free forever: food log, saved meals, barcode scan, weight, waist, symptoms, notes, dose tracking with half-life curves, rolling 7-day calorie budget, progress photos, data export. Premium ($9.99/mo or $79/yr) adds the agentic AI, correlation charts, deeper dose stats, unlimited custom compounds, endogenous hormone simulation, cloud sync. Unlimited ($18.99/mo or $149/yr) uncaps AI messages and image recognition.

Is there a free trial on the paid plans?

Yes. 14-day free trial on both Premium and Unlimited. Card collected upfront, auto-charges at trial end. Cancel anytime before day 14 and there's no charge.

What happens if I stop paying for Premium?

Your account drops to Free. All your historical data stays intact. You lose AI chat tools, correlation charts, and higher caps — but the core tracker keeps working. No cancellation fee.

How much does Lab cost?

Lab is in closed beta (v0.4 · invite-only). Pricing TBD at general availability. If you're invited, you'll see plans before billing starts.
